Sadiya

(2022)

In my photo series titled "Sadiya," I explore identity and cultural reclamation. The name "Sadiya," my grandmother's original name before it changed to "Sara," holds deep significance, paralleling my feelings of disconnection. Through "Sadiya," I embark on a personal journey of self-discovery. Wearing my aunt's garments in central London bridges the diaspora experience and my heritage, expressing Eritrean women's pride and authenticity. This act challenges societal norms and helps me reclaim my identity.
